ParrotIt
Partner Terms
The agreement between ParrotIt and the businesses that receive form answers through Connect with ParrotIt.
Last updated: 6 October 2026, version 2026-10
Who we are and what these terms cover
ParrotIt is operated by Wo King, of Chy an Gover, Lamorna, Cornwall TR19 6XQ (“ParrotIt”, “we”, “us”). You can reach us at wo@parrotit.app.
These terms are the agreement between us and the business that applies to become a ParrotIt partner (“you”). They cover Connect with ParrotIt, the button that lets an organisation send you the answers to its forms; ParrotIt’s Developer API, as you use it as a partner; and the partner kit.
You accept these terms when you apply. Your application records the version you accepted, which is the version shown at the top of this page.
Two other relationships sit beside this one, and you are not a party to either. Each organisation that uses ParrotIt has its own terms with us. People who fill in forms have no contract with us at all.
Becoming a partner
- You must be a business, and the person who applies must be at least 18 and entitled to accept these terms for it.
- Your application must be accurate: your name, website, privacy policy, return addresses, logo and contact address. You prove your website is yours with a DNS record that names your signing key.
- We approve partners one at a time, and we may decline an application without giving a reason. Your name and logo are shown to organisations when they allow you, and your name to people filling in their forms, so both must be your own and must not mislead anyone about who you are.
- Keep your details current, and tell us before you change your name, your website, or what your service does with answers.
- A test partner may be used only for testing, connected only to an organisation of your own whose forms hold no real answers.
Your keys
- You make your keys on your own computer. We only ever receive their public halves, so we cannot recover a private key you lose.
- Keep your private keys secret, and only on the systems that need them. Anyone who holds your sealing key can open the answers sent to you.
- If you think a private key, a token or any answers you hold may have been exposed, tell us at wo@parrotit.app at once, and within 72 hours of finding out at the latest. We will pause you, which stops your old signing key working straight away. Then ask for new keys, and we will resume you once they are approved.
- Keep every sealing key you have registered for as long as you hold, or may still be sent, answers sealed to it.
Answers you receive
You only receive answers from organisations that allowed you, for the forms they chose. You must not try to reach any other form, answer or organisation.
You act for each organisation. You may use its answers only to provide your service to that organisation, and only as it instructs. They are the organisation’s information, not yours. You must not:
- sell, rent or give answers to anyone else, except your own service providers who are bound to protect them as these terms require, or where the law requires it
- use answers, or anything made from them, to train or improve AI models, to build profiles of people, to market to people, or for any purpose of your own
- combine one organisation’s answers with another organisation’s, or with other information about the same people, unless the organisation instructs it and the law allows it
- try to identify people from answers given without a name, or contact people who filled in a form, unless the organisation instructs it and the law allows it
Looking after answers
You need your own agreement with each organisation that connects you, including a data processing agreement where the law requires one. For the personal information in answers, the organisation is the controller and you are its processor. We are not a party to that agreement.
Your privacy policy, which your application links to, must say what you do with answers. Help each organisation answer requests from people about their information, such as a request to see or delete it.
Keep answers secure, with protection suited to what the forms ask for, including encryption while they are stored and access limited to the people who need it. Where you store or reach answers from outside the country the organisation is in, put in place the safeguards the law requires for that.
Deletions and disconnecting
- When ParrotIt tells you an answer has been deleted, delete your copy within 30 days, unless the organisation has told you in writing that it must keep it, for example because the law requires it.
- When an organisation disconnects you, collecting stops at once. What you do with answers you already hold is for your agreement with that organisation.
- To leave an organisation yourself, revoke its grant, which ends your connection to all of its forms. If you no longer hold a working refresh token for it, ask the organisation to disconnect you, or tell us.
Using the API, the button and the kit
- Use the API as documented. Keep within its limits, and when it asks you to wait, wait. Do not scrape the service, probe it for weaknesses without our written permission, or work around its limits or access controls.
- Collect only with your own client and keys, and never share a grant or its tokens with anyone else.
- You may show the Connect with ParrotIt button and our name to explain the connection. You must not suggest that ParrotIt endorses, audits or vouches for your service: being a partner means only that we approved your application. Do not use our name or logo for anything else without our written permission.
- We give you a licence to use, copy and adapt the partner kit, only to connect your service to ParrotIt. The licence is not exclusive, cannot be transferred, and ends with your partnership. We keep every other right in the kit.
Fees
Being a partner is free. We will give you at least 30 days’ notice before we introduce any charge, and you may leave before it applies.
Pausing and ending
- We may pause you at once if we reasonably believe you have broken these terms, a key of yours has been exposed, organisations or people filling in forms are at risk, or the law requires it. While you are paused your tokens stop working, organisations stay connected, and answers sent to you wait. We will tell you why, unless the law prevents it.
- We may end your partnership with 30 days’ notice for any reason, or at once for a serious breach of these terms.
- You may end it at any time by telling us. Revoke your grants first while you still can, so organisations see that you have left.
- When it ends, stop using the API and the partner kit. The sections on your keys, answers you receive and looking after answers still apply for as long as you hold any answers, and what you do with them is for your agreement with each organisation. The sections on liability and governing law still apply too.
Changes
- We may change the API and the partner kit. We will give at least 30 days’ notice of a change that stops a documented feature working, unless we must change something sooner for security or because the law requires it.
- We may update these terms, and each update has a new version number. For changes that materially affect you, we will email you at least 30 days before they apply. You accept the new version by carrying on as a partner after that date; if you do not accept it, you may leave before it applies. Earlier versions are available from us on request.
Responsibility and liability
- ParrotIt, the API and the partner kit are provided as they are. We do not promise they will be uninterrupted or free of faults.
- You are responsible for your own service and for what you do with answers. If a claim is made against us because you broke the sections on answers you receive, looking after answers, or deletions, you will cover our reasonable losses and costs.
- Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
- Subject to that, we are not liable for loss of profit, business or goodwill, or for any indirect loss, and our total liability to you under these terms is limited to £100.
Governing law
- These terms, and any dispute arising out of them, are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
- If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest still applies. A delay in enforcing a right is not a waiver of it. These terms are between you and us, and no one else can enforce them.
- You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our written consent. We may transfer ours if the ParrotIt business is transferred, provided your rights are not reduced.
Your details
We use the details in your application, including your contact address, to decide on it, to run your partnership and to send you notices under these terms. We keep them while you are a partner and for six years after it ends, as the record of our agreement. You can ask to see or correct them at wo@parrotit.app, and you can change your contact address by applying again with the same signing key.
Contact and notices
Questions about these terms, and notices under them, go to wo@parrotit.app, or by post to Wo King, Chy an Gover, Lamorna, Cornwall TR19 6XQ. Our notices to you go to the contact address in your application.
